AIB Gallery Art Exhibition – David Dunne

Currently based in Dublin, David Dunne is from Mullingar,
Co Westmeath. A renowned portrait artist, David works in a
distinctive black and white style capturing famous faces from the world of sport and entertainment.

Theatre Bar Festival Club –

Nightly after the Play. Join in the post- performance revelry with music, chat and the Groups’ Festival’s Got Talent competition.

Blunderdog Theatre Group – The talented students of NUI
Galway’s Drama Society present a production of Martin McDonagh’s Beauty Queen of Leenane

Athlone Little Theatre, St Mary’s Place 3.00 pm
Part 1: Fuinneamh – The multi-award winning Irish dancing troupe from the Concannon Ganley Dance Academy perform some stunning dance routines. The company are All Ireland champions and have performed in the UK and Paris.
Part 2: “Two” by Jim Cartwright - A 1-Act play featuring Athlone Little Theatre members Anne Hoey and John McGlynn. The play is set in an English pub with the two actors playing 14 parts

Playwriting Workshop –
Registration Fee €5
Thomas Conway, Literary Manager, Druid Theatre, Galway (in association with Athlone Literary Festival) leads a workshop for beginners and more experienced writers exploring imaginative worlds,
writing monologues and dialogue.

Passion Fruit Theatre, Northgate Street 4.00 pm
Passion Fruit Theatre Company presents Birds of the Innocent Woods by Joe Ducke. Directed by Gráinne Moore, this is a historical drama set in a Franciscan Abbey in Athlone.

 

Tuesday 3rd May

Athlone Community College presents Pairicin Is Ainm Dom – a short play in Irish about young people and drugs. The piece is followed by a
presentation of Irish music and dance.

All On Board Drama Workshop – The transition year students of St Joseph’s Secondary School, Charlestown, Co Mayo present an extract from Our Town by Thornton Wilder.

Westmeath Young Writers & Actors present a performance of rehearsed readings of specially commissioned pieces scripted by five promising dramatists aged between 14 and 18 years. Under the
direction of novelist Caroline Barry, this event showcases the talents of our future playwrights and actors and is deserving of support.

Youth Theatre Workshops – Majella Flanagan leads students from local secondary schools in a 2-day workshop which explores the elements of drama and gives a foundation in acting and performance technique.

10 Demon Daughters Puppet Theatre Company presents a highly entertaining and skilful production of two stories, Witches and The Selfish Giant told with comedy, enchantment and amazing puppet dexterity.

“Dance Away to the Summerhill Seasons” – Transition Year students from St Joseph’s College, Summerhill, Athlone, present
a show featuring dance performances from their recent musical Cinderella. They will also be modelling their unique Four Season fashion collection made from many recyclable materials.

As the Festival draws to a close, this gala evening gets underway with the military band playing some entertaining numbers and famous melodies.
