Dunmore Amateur Dramatic Society are presenting 'Faith Healer' by Brian Friel at Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone, on Wednesday 1st May 2024. Dunmore Amateur Dramatic Society (DADS) will represent the Confined groups as they placed second in the competition. About DADS DADS (Dunmore Amateur Dramatic Society) revived drama in Dunmore in 2003 with a local production of ‘Da’ by Hugh Leonard. Since 2005 they have been regular participants on the Three Act Circuit, achieving 2nd place on three occasions in the Confined All-Ireland Finals: 2011 – The Good Father by Christian O’Reilly; 2015 – Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me by Frank McGuinness; 2016 –The Gigli Concert by Tom Murphy. In 2013, DADS won 1st place in the All-Ireland Confined One Act Finals with A Galway Girl by Geraldine Aron.
Thursday 2nd May, 7 pm Defence Forces Band of the Eastern Brigade, celebrating the start of their second century, by kind permission of GOC Eastern Brigade Forecourt Dean Crowe Theatre Open air musical entertainment to start the 2024 RTÉ All-Ireland Drama Festival Free Event
Friday 3rd May, 6.30 pm At the Sheraton Hotel Foyer, Athlone A Cappella return with their unique choral recitals. Popular vocal musical entertainment. Free Event.
Saturday 4th May, all day Afternoon T Series: ‘The Same’. Athlone Little Theatre Prosperous Drama Group present the 2023 All-Ireland winning one act play. When two women, both called Lisa, meet for the very first time, they come to realise they have much more in common than just a name. Directed by Daniel Clarke. Sunday 5th May, 3 pm Afternoon T Series :‘A night without Stars’. Athlone Little Theatre The Ray Leonard Players from Claremorris, Co. Mayo present the All Ireland confined wining one act play. A powerful drama that focuses on life, relationships and memory. A mixture of dark comedy and tragedy, the play explores how our actions can have life long consequences. Adult theme. Monday 6th May, 3pm Afternoon T series: ‘A taste of Joyce’. Athlone Little Theatre Lua McIllraith, the Lilliput players, plus a few guests, give a light introduction, on a bank holiday Monday afternoon, to some short extracts of James Joyce’s prose, poem, song and play.
