Saturday 27th April, 1.00pm Filmmakers Networking Event. Tea and sandwiches sponsored by TUS University Business Faculty, from 1pm at Hyde Theatre TUS. In conjunction with Westmeath Film Collective, The Networking event holds an opportunity for Actors/Producers/Directors/Lighting/Sound/Costume/Set designers to meet, greet and experience the film making activities that are taking place in the region. Monday 29th April, 11 am Athlone and Castlerea Credit Union Schools Playwright Competition Dean Crowe Theatre Transition year students from eight counties around Ireland, have written original one act plays on the theme of ‘Home ’. Presentation of prizes, followed by the ‘world premiere’ performance of the winning play. Produced and directed by Alfie Kilduff. Free Event

Dunmore Amateur Dramatic Society are presenting 'Faith Healer' by Brian Friel at Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone, on Wednesday 1st May 2024. Dunmore Amateur Dramatic Society (DADS) will represent the Confined groups as they placed second in the competition. About DADS DADS (Dunmore Amateur Dramatic Society) revived drama in Dunmore in 2003 with a local production of ‘Da’ by Hugh Leonard. Since 2005 they have been regular participants on the Three Act Circuit, achieving 2nd place on three occasions in the Confined All-Ireland Finals: 2011 – The Good Father by Christian O’Reilly; 2015 – Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me by Frank McGuinness; 2016 –The Gigli Concert by Tom Murphy. In 2013, DADS won 1st place in the All-Ireland Confined One Act Finals with A Galway Girl by Geraldine Aron.
